Difference Between Green And Black Label Jack Daniels
The Black label is labeled as 86 proof and contains alcohol by volume content of about 43% which is a little more than the Green label. The Black label has more of a tart overall taste but is filled with notes of saltiness, sweetness, spice, and herbs which provide a nice balance to the whiskey overall. Previously, the famous black-label brand (the better-quality, higher-priced product) had been 86 proof, where legal, while the lower-end green label was 80 proof; these marked reductions from the previous practice of bottling the black-label product at 90 proof and the green-label product at 86.
I have several jack daniels whisky bottles from the 1970's that I would like to find out the values of. I have attached a picture of the bottles. From left to right: 1976 old no.7 black label 90 proof sealed (plastic seal missing) 1 quart bottle, 1973 old no.7 black label 90 proof sealed (plastic seal came loose) 1 quart bottle, 1976 old no.7 green label 86 proof sealed (plastic seal came loose) (2) 1.75l bottles, 1979 old no.7 green label 86 proof sealed (plastic seal came loose) 1 liter bottle, and 1972 old no.7 green label 90 proof sealed (plastic seal came loose) 4/5 quart. I have close up shots of the bottles and will post them if you ask.
Hello,
I'm not a Jack collector per se but these look like cool bottles. Are the larger green-label bottles half-gallons? I had one of those once but I gave it to a friend.
Do you have the boxes for them? I know Jack collectors appreciate things like original boxes.
Cheers,
Eric
For all the green labels your looking at around 2500 usd if sold to the right collector
