ROBINSONVILLE, Miss. (AP) — A north Mississippi casino has reopened after county workers built an earthen dike and pumped water off its partially flooded access road.
And, in January 2019, Caesars Entertainment ceased gaming operations at Tunica Roadhouse Casino, impacting 400 employees; the property’s hotel has remained open. Resorts Casino, Hollywood Casino and Sam’s Town Casino joined forces to build this links-style course, in the Tunica area of Mississippi. The casino has said there was never any flooding in its parking lot or casino. However, county emergency managers ordered the casino closed Sunday because the rising waters of the Mississippi River were flooding the road.
The Mississippi appears to have crested Tuesday at 52.6 feet (16.03 meters) at Tunica. That’s the second-highest level recorded after 2011.
The county’s other six casinos remained open.
All Fitz employees have been notified to report back to work.
A number of residential camps unprotected by levees remain flooded. The Tunica County Riverpark is also closed.
